Istorio: The Collectors Community
An Online Community designed to bring stamp collector socieites together.
The founders of Istorio talked with stamp collector communities from around the UK in order to gether insights. Zipline worked closely with Istorio to plan a digital representation of the Displays and Sheets that together allow society members to show their collections.
Zipline built the community, with a focus on ease of use, geographically based services and the ability to grow and support other types of collector communities..
The Istorio Community was built using WordPress and BuddyPress as a foundation. Custom development ensured the platform was an exact fit for the client’s requirements.
Key deliverables:
- Societies – Each real world stamp collection society can create their own Istorio Society, inviting members via email. Societies house members, stamp displays, events and society details. Each society is a self contained community in a community.
- Displays – Members create displays; collections of stamps based around a theme. Display creation is designed to be intuitive an easy two step process.
- Sheets – Members add sheets to displays. Sheets contain multiple pictures, picture captions and text. Sheets are created via a custom built, easy to use interface or uploaded from scanned paper based sheets.
- User interface – Societies, Displays and Sheets form the backbone of the community. Zipline created an intuitive interface to help community members navigate and find the content most relevant to their interests.
